The Wheatley and Chalgrove Area Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) consists of representatives from the police, parish, district and county councils, schools, licensees, youth representatives, housing associations, the fire service and residents from across the area.
Over 700 residents across the NAG area were asked recently what their issues were. While many residents of the Wheatley area felt there were no major safety concerns, a number of residents highlighted speeding as a potential problem. Rubbish, litter and parking issues were also highlighted. The NAG will be deploying the SID at speeding hotspots to remind drivers of the speed limit. They are also running a poster competition with the children at Wheatley primary school. With the success of their recent bus shelter make over, Chalgrove residents are enjoying a reduction in anti-social behaviour and are looking to tackle their next priority, also speeding. Parking issues and rubbish will also be dealt with across the neighbourhood although again many residents had no major concerns.
The NAG can only focus on the top three issues in each neighbourhood. However many villages highlighted other concerns such as lack of police visibility, robbery and burglary. This information will be passed on to the relevant agency and will be dealt with outside the NAG.
