The Parish Council is asked to give a recommendation about every planning application, although the decision about whether a planning application is granted or not is made by SODC.
The Parish Council is very keen that all developments in the village are for the benefit of everyone. They give full consideration to all applications before deciding their opinion.Their recommendation takes account of the views of local residents and of the wider community, for example as expressed in the Parish Plan questionnaire.
The Parish Council is particularly interested in the views of the applicant and is eager to have full discussion with them about their proposal. Applicants are invited to discuss their application at a meeting of the Parish Council, even before they have submitted the proposal or fully formulated in their mind what the development is. This will prevent needless misunderstanding and confrontation between the applicant and the Parish Council.
