The tree felling and pruning in Denton and Cuddesdon has now been completed. The Parish Council would like to plant another tree to replace the one felled in Denton.

A native tree such as an Oak, Wild Cherry, Field Maple or Ash has been suggested, or maybe a Japanese Maple. If you have any strong feelings about what you would like to see there, then please let one of the councillors know or use the contact link at the top to express your preference.

The District Council have put some markings on the road from Wheatley to try to reduce the chances of an accident. There is now a 30 mark in a circle on the road into the village and there are “slow” markings at the corner near Church Road.

Some repair work has been done to the surface at the multi play equipment on the Recreation Ground, to prevent people tripping up on it.

Recently, there have been two new planning applications. One is for replacement of a conservatory at Wellbourne (P09/W0549), which the Council has no objections to. The other is a retrospective application at Upperfield Farm in Denton (P09/W0617/RET) for change of use of an agricultural barn to be used for a storage and distribution business. At the time of writing, the Parish Council is still considering their response to this.

Recent business of the Parish Council has been overshadowed by the news that David Keene had a bad accident during June. As many of you will know, David fell off a ladder while working on his farm and injured his back. David is vice chairman of the Parish Council and he has always made a very positive contribution during the two years since he was elected to the Council. I am sure you will join with the Parish Councillors in wishing David a speedy recovery. Our good wishes and thoughts are with him and his family.
