The District Council has approved the planning application for replacement of a conservatory at Wellbourne (P09/W0549).

There is a new planning application for industrial use of a barn at Upperfield Farm in Denton (P09/W0617/RET). This site has been used since early 2008 as a distribution centre for nuts and bolts and other automotive parts ordered on the internet, but planning consent had not been given. The Parish Council is opposed to the application because of the narrowness and unsuitability of the road serving Upperfield Farm. They think that the increase in traffic is a hazard to pedestrians and horses, and also that the increased vibration caused by the traffic is likely to hasten deterioration of some of the older buildings alongside the road.

The new recycling arrangements seem to be working well, although some rubbish is left on the road after the refuse collectors have been, particularly on windy days. This may be because the bins are too full or because the refuse collectors are not being careful enough when they empty the bins. The Parish Council asks that you offer your neighbour some space in your bin if it is not full and theirs is. The Parish Council will also be discussing this issue with the District Council to find out if the bins are large enough and the refuse collectors are being careful enough. If you have any opinions on this, please let one of the Parish Councillors know.

The village fireworks and bonfire this year are going to be on 7th November. Any suitable fuel for the bonfire is always welcome, but nothing with metal in it like old furniture, or anything which gives off noxious fumes. Please drive round the edge of the Recreation Ground if you are taking material to the bonfire by vehicle, to avoid damaging the football field.
