Gillie King attended October’s Parish Council meeting to discuss the Youth Club, which has been going through a difficult time recently, although Gillie is optimistic about its future.

A grant has been applied for to pay for supervision, and the regular bingo nights which assist with funding continue to be popular.

Martyn Percy, who is Principal of Ripon College, told the meeting that a decision had been made on the design of the College’s new chapel, which you may have seen in the Oxford Times. It is anticipated that detailed plans will be completed by the end of the year, when they will be shown to the villagers.

The tree stump in Denton has now been removed and it is hoped to plant a replacement tree there soon.

Following the complaints about loose rubbish being left in the streets after collection of the recycling rubbish, particularly on windy days, the District Council has confirmed that recycling which will not fit in the bin will be collected provided it is left in clear plastic sacks and that households with more than six people are entitled to larger bins or two bins.

The retrospective application for industrial use of the barn at Upperfield Farm (P09/W0617/RET) has been refused by SODC, because of the unsuitability of the road serving it.

Concern has been expressed about the size of the garage being built at 23 High Street, and the status of this is being investigated by the Parish Council.

The village web site has been running for nearly a year now, and it would be nice to improve it. If any one has any suggestions or would like to make any contributions, or have their opinions on anything included, then please let me know.
