Only three people have put themselves forward to be parish councillors this year.
They are Kathy Hawley, Martyn Percy and Cyril Sellar, all of whom are existing councillors. One of their first tasks when the new council meets will be to discuss co-option of four more councillors, to bring the numbers up to full strength.
Appeals against the District Council’s opposition to two planning applications have both been refused. They are for a second storey extension at 8 Bishop’s Wood (P10/W1558) and for a single storey extension at 16 Denton Hill (P10/W1420).
Neither the District Council or County Council are going to increase their council taxes this year.
It now seems likely that the speed limits previously discussed for some local roads will be going ahead, for example the 50mph limit between Chiselhampton and Clifton Hampden.
The County Council have said that our local bus service to Oxford is going to be retained, but the one to Garsington will be shelved.
David Turner, our county councillor, was asked at April’s Parish Council meeting about the effectiveness of the chicanes in Horspath on the Cuddesdon Road. He was asked how many accidents there had been before there were any chicanes, since the chicanes were installed, and since one of them had been reduced to a half chicane. He is investigating this.
