It has proved rather easier than expected to find volunteers to fill the four vacancies on the Parish Council.
Three previous councillors had been elected unopposed and so there were four vacancies. Kevin Jones, David Keene (who was a councillor last time), Stuart Lacey and Michael Raynor have agreed to become councillors. They join Kathy Hawley, Martyn Percy and Cyril Sellar, with Martyn re-elected as chairman at May’s parish council meeting..
The road through Horspath is used by many residents of the village, and there is particular concern about the safety of the chicanes on this road. David Turner, our county councillor, has obtained the data showing how the accident figures in Horspath have changed since the chicanes were installed on the Cuddesdon Road in 2000. The information shows that in the five year period before the chicanes were installed (1995 to 1999) there were four accidents. In the five year period after the chicanes were installed there appears only to have been one accident, but in the last five years there have been 12 accidents, nine of these associated with the chicanes and one of them being fatal. David Turner has agreed to investigate this further.
The County Council have announced that the road from Denton to the B480 past Chippinghurst will be closed for telecommunication work on 11th July from about 9.30am to 3.30pm. Access will be allowed for residents within the closure area, provided the works allow. If you want any more information about this please contact Louise Skull at Aplant Lux Traffic Controls on 08700 500792.
The new bus timetable for the 103 and 104 has been published. The timetable comes into operation on 5th June and includes buses for Cuddesdon and Denton to and from Oxford at two hourly intervals throughout the day.
