Each year there is a RoSPA inspection of the play area on the recreation ground and a report is produced giving the condition of all the equipment.
It is necessary for this to be done and for the equipment to be well maintained so there are no accidents and so we are properly insured. The play area is popular and the Parish Council thinks that it is an important facility for the village and that it should be kept in good condition.
Inevitably there is a need to spend money each year to maintain the equipment, for example last year the play surfaces at the swings were repaired. The latest RoSPA report confirmed that all the equipment was in good condition, but identified some items which will require work during the coming year.
The planning applications for there to be a pitched roof on the garage at 2 Bishop’s Wood (P11/W1103) and for a kitchen extension at 3 Bishop’s Wood (P11/W1350) have both been granted by the District Council. Also the listed building consents for internal double glazing and a biomass boiler at Denton House have been granted (P11/W0904/LB and P11/W1015/LB).
David Turner, our county councillor, confirmed at October’s Parish Council meeting that the County Council’s portion of the council tax was likely to be frozen again in the coming year. Despite the fact that there is a shortage of funds, the Parish Council is pressing David to ensure that the highways department keeps our roads in good repair, and has asked specifically about repairing the potholes in the passing places on the road to Cuddesdon Mill, repair of the wall at the bridge at the mill, and repair of the pothole in the lane to Brookside in Denton.
