Despite the fact that the previous application for the extension at 44 High Street had been approved by the District Council, a new application has been made (P09/W0331) which will not cause the entrance to be broadened as much as previously.

The Parish Council approved this new application. The applicant, Will Pascall, attended May’s meeting to explain that he had not been happy with the previous application and had taken note of the Parish Council’s comments. It is generous of him to revise the application when he could have gone ahead with the old one, since it had already been approved.

The Parish Council is still pursuing an explanation from the District Council as to why the Parish Council’s objections to the original application appeared not to have been taken into account, and from the County Council as to why it felt that the development would have no effect on traffic.

The Parish Council is investigating the possibility of doing some landscaping work at Cuddesdon Green to make it a more attractive area but any development will need to be affordable.

After much discussion with two tree experts and local residents, the work to fell one of the horse chestnuts in Denton and prune some others is going ahead. Two other tress near the church entrance in Cuddesdon are also going to be pruned.

The accounts have been prepared for the financial year which ended on 31st March 2009, ready for the internal audit. The Parish Council’s finances are in good shape, and there is an opportunity to spend more in the coming year on improvements to the village.

Martyn Percy has been re-elected Chairman of the Parish Council for a second year, with David Keene remaining as Vice-chairman.
