I feel like I’ve been away for work a lot over the last few months, or buried in mountains of scripts and so I haven’t been able to take much part in village life.
But I have noted that the community has been organising events like the Harvest Supper and further work in the Orchard, as we get set for winter.
On the Parish Council our new clerk, Jo Garvey, was welcomed to her first meeting and, while I sadly was away again, the meeting went conspicuously smoothly in my absence! I wish Jo the very best of luck in her new role and feel that we will be able to serve the parish well as she gets her feet under the table.
As mentioned in my last message, we will be posting a notice about CCTV and fly-tipping soon. Please do comment on the suggested initiative.
It’s also the start of the Oxford Congestion Charge and, despite three quarters of all those who commented being against the scheme (including the Parish Council), the tax on our disadvantaged rural communities has been bulldozed through. It’s an added burden to those of us who have no practical bus service that we will now be charged to access our county town whether for work or leisure.
On a positive note, coming up in November we have Bonfire Night almost immediately, so I hope to see lots of you on Sunday 2nd at 6.00pm (I’m hopeful you’ll be reading this just in time).
Then on 9th November it’s Remembrance Sunday and we will gather at Cuddesdon Green to remember those who sacrificed their lives for the peace that we enjoy in the UK today. We’ll also be thinking about all those who are currently beset by war and the aftermath of conflict all around the world.
