Nationally, some horse chestnut trees are being infected with a disease called bleeding canker, and we live in one of the worst affected areas. A tree expert from the County Council has been to the village and inspected our trees, and she believes that nearly all of them are infected. The disease can be fatal but she thinks that most of the horse chestnuts are in good enough condition to be left for now. A report is going to be sent to the Parish Council, but it is likely that only one tree will need to be felled at present.
